“A” or “an?”

• A/an is used immediately in front of a/an singular count noun or a/an adjective that starts with a/an consonant sound such as in a/an student, a/an new computer, a/an workstation, and a/an red apple. A/an immediately precedes a/an singular count noun or a/an adjective that starts with a vowel sound such as in a/an apple, a/an application, and a/an hour.
